Does cardiovascular and lung capacity plateau after so many months of aerobic exercise?

I heard that in strength training, your muscles can plateau. Does the same apply to your heart and lungs in aerobic exercise? Do you need to switch it up after a while for aerobic exercise? Will your cardiovascular level off?

Thanks!

Yes, to an extent. That is when you introduce circuits and intervals to change it up then go back to what you were doing when you break through.

What is a good picture that would best represent "Aerobic Exercise" in a powerpoint presentation?

I am making a PPT presentation on Aerobic Exercise. It lists the advantages and disadvantages of different types of exercise. I am trying to think of a good background for the title slide, but cannot think of anything. Any suggestions?

Interval Workout

Interval Workout.

Researchers at the University of NSW and the Garvan Institute studied 45 overweight women over 15 weeks. This Australian study compared a 20-minute interval workout (done three times per week) against a 40-minute slow cardio workout (also done three times per week). The Women did the workout for 15 weeks, and only the interval group lost belly fat. The slow cardio group got practically no results at all. They found their specific brand of interval training prompts the body to click into a metabolic response that allows more fat to be burned both under the skin and within the muscles.

The Interval Training group lost three times more weight as other women who exercised at a continuous, regular pace for 40 minutes,” UNSW Associate Professor Steve Boutcher said. “Their success was due to higher amounts of chemical compounds called catecholamines that are produced in increasing amounts when linked to interval sprinting; the resulting chemical reaction drives greater weight loss. You can get your interval workout music here

Costas Karageorghis, PhD, a sports psychologist at Brunel University in London says music inspires movement like smell  it can penetrate areas of the brain that language alone doesn’t reach.” In fact, research has shown that synchronizing the speed of music with exercise gets people to train harder. In his latest study, Karageorghis compared participants’ heart rates with the number of beats in music and found that matching the tempo to workout intensity mattered most for those who exercised the most strenuously

The effect of music on training is confirmed in a recent article by Men’s Health called The Science of Workout Music. According to the article, a new study from Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia confirmed that “listening to your favorite music will help you push harder in your workouts. Men who listened to music while going hard on an exercise bike for 10 minutes pedaled 11 percent farther than those who listened to silence or static for the same amount of time.No time to work out? Tae Bo Workout

Today Fitness Areobics Workout Music takes a look at Billy Blanks Tae Bo workout if you love to keep fit this should interest you.

Tae Bo was developed around 1976, by accident when Billy Blanks was working out in his basement. He developed a workout for himself that used the classic techniques from boxing and martial arts, and then added some dance moves. Martial arts and boxing develop strength, speed, balance, coordination and awareness. The dance moves give the workout energy and rhythm that improves coordination and body awareness and provides a workout for the heart. Thus Tae Bo was born. Tae Bo was first offered in Boston in 1982. In 1989, the program was moved to California where Billy taught in his garage then moved to a small studio located in the Los Angeles area. The center was moved to its current location in 1998. The first Tae Bo workout video was released in 1998. You can get all your Tae bo workout here

What Is Tae Bo?

Tae Bo is an exercise that teaches a person how to communicate with the body. It teaches how the mind should operate with the spirit, which God has given us. By the mind working with the spirit one can learn how the body mechanics operate.

Tae Bo is a program that combines the best of a variety of different exercise disciplines to provide an overall workout. It is the combination of self-awareness and control of martial arts, the focus and strength of boxing, and the grace and rhythm of dance.
The word Tae means “foot and leg in the Korean language, due to the movements that emphasize the lower body.

Bo is a shortened version of the word box.
However, all the letters of Tae Bo have an important meaning as well, because they are significant to the essential demands of Tae Bo.

Tae Bo requires strength, endurance, technique, and focus; it mandates your mind and soul as well as your body. You will find out how the mind, will, soul and body have come together to form Tae Bo However, Tae Bo is about more than training your body and getting in shape,
It is important to remember that Tae Bo will give back to you what it asks of you. It is like the laws of the universe, if you plant a seed and nourish it, it is guaranteed to grow. As your will is tested it is also strengthened. While you push your body you build it as well. As your mind and will are challenged, your spirit that God has given you is embraced. So go get your Tae Bo workout on

I would love to have your feed back on Tae Bo Workout.

Aerobic Exercise

Aerobic exercise

I would love to be able to sit down and talk to the Olympic stars that are now in Beiging, as far as I am concern everyone who performs in this Olympic is a star, but we have to admit that among the stars there are some real outstanding ones, just to name a few  Usain bolt 100 & 200 meters who jogged to win, Michael Phelps, eight Gold medals, Shelly Ann Fraser women 100 meters, Simon Whitfield Triathlon Silver medal and the list go’s on, now here’s the big question that I would love to ask, what kind of  music that they listen too while working out, I would then make a playlist and called it the Olympic stars workout music playlist  now that would be hot, what is your feed back on that and what is your playlist? In the mean time check out this playlist

Today we are taking a look at aerobic exercise the meaning, the bennifits and how it came about.

The term aerobic exercise method were developed by Kenneth H. Cooper, M.D., an exercise physiologist of the U.S. Air Force. Dr. Cooper, an avowed exercise enthusiast, was personally and professionally puzzled about why some people with excellent muscular strength were still prone to poor performance at tasks such as long-distance running, swimming, and bicycling. He began measuring systematic human performance using a bicycle ergometer, and began measuring sustained performance in terms of the ability to utilize oxygen.

His groundbreaking book, Aerobics, was published in 1968, and included scientific exercise programs using running, walking, swimming and bicycling. The book came at a fortuitous historical moment, when increasing weakness and inactivity in the general population was causing a perceived need for increased exercise. It became a best seller.

Cooper’s data provided the scientific baseline for almost all modern aerobics programs, most of which are based on oxygen-consumption equivalency.

Aerobic exercise refers to exercise that is of moderate intensity, undertaken for a long duration. Aerobic means “with oxygen”, and refers to the use of oxygen in a muscle’s energy-generating process. Many types of exercise are aerobic, and by definition are performed at moderate levels of intensity for extended periods of time.

An effective aerobic exercise should involve 5-10 minutes of warming up at an intensity of 50-60% of maximum heart rate, followed by at least 20 minutes of exercise at an intensity of 70-80% of maximum heart rate, ending with 5-10 minutes of cooling down at an intensity of 50-60% of maximum heart rate.

There are various types of aerobic exercise. In general, aerobic exercise is one performed at a low to moderate level of intensity over a long period of time. For example, running a long distance at a moderate pace is an aerobic exercise, but sprinting is not. Playing singles tennis, with near-continuous motion, is generally considered aerobic activity, while golf or doubles tennis, with their brief bursts of activity punctuated by more frequent breaks, may not be predominantly aerobic.

The bennefitts

Strengthening the muscles involved in respiration, to facilitate the flow of air in and out of the lungs Strengthening and enlarging the heart muscle, to improve its pumping efficiency and reduce the resting heart rate Toning muscles throughout the body, which can improve overall circulation and reduce blood pressure  Increasing the total number of red blood cells in the body, to facilitate transport of oxygen throughout the body

As a result, aerobic exercise can reduce the risk of death due to cardiovascular problems. In addition, high-impact aerobic activities (such as jogging or jumping rope) can stimulate bone growth, as well as reducing the risk of osteoporosis for both men and women.

In addition to the health benefits of aerobic exercise, there are numerous performance benefits:

Increased storage of energy molecules such as fats and carbohydrates within the muscles, allowing for increased endurance

Neovascularization of the muscle sarcomeres to increase blood flow through the muscles

Increasing speed at which aerobic metabolism is activated within muscles, allowing a greater portion of energy for intense exercise to be generated aerobically

Improving the ability of muscles to use fats during exercise, preserving intramuscular glycogen

Enhancing the speed at which muscles recover from high intensity exercise.
