Sega Toys unveiled the Body Trainer, a new tool to help individuals exercise with a personal trainer right in their ear. The Body Trainer monitors your heart beat and plays music to help you maintain a healthy pace while exercising.
First, select your desired program from walking, jogging or aerobics and enter your age. Then, you simply clip the sensor on your earlobe, and it measures your resting heart rate and calculates a healthy target heart rate based on your data. For the fit users who exceed the calculated heart rates, the program can be personalized to match their fitness level.
If your heart rate is too low during exercise, the Body Trainer slows down the music and encourages you to work harder. When you are working too hard, the music speeds up and the Body Trainer tells you to slow down.
By staying in rhythm with the music, you can increase the effectiveness of your aerobic workout by 20%.
The Body Trainer is scheduled for sale in April 2008 and is priced at 5,775 yen, about 55 US dollars.
